El representante del Partido Nuevo Progresista (PNP) José Enrique ‘Quiquito’ Meléndez emplazó al presidente del Partido Popular Democrático (PPD) Alejandro García Padilla, a que revele la postura oficial de su partido con respecto a las expresiones de los representantes Jaime Perelló y Roberto Rivera Ruiz de Porras sobre el futuro de la Alianza Público Privada (APP) del aeropuerto internacional Luis Muñoz Marín.
Meléndez reveló en conferencia de prensa en la cede del PNP en Hato Rey que le enviaría ayer en la tarde una carta a García Padilla en la que le exige que aclare si respalda o no las acciones de los representantes, como candidato a la gobernación y como presidente de la Conferencia Legislativa del PPD.
“La pregunta obligada que tiene que contestar es está a favor de que la economía de nuestro país eche pa’ lante o está a favor de fomentar un clima de inseguridad para la inversión como lo hacen sus legisladores”, increpó Meléndez.
Las expresiones son en referencia a las cartas enviadas recientemente por los legisladores Populares a las compañías Ferrovial S.A. y Aeroportuario del Sureste en las que presuntamente se les indica que de participar en la privatización del aeropuerto serán investigadas por la Legislatura de ocurrir un cambio de gobierno en la Isla.
Meléndez enfatizó en que resulta imperativo que Puerto Rico se mantenga como una jurisdicción que incentiva la inversión doméstica y extranjera, en la que se respetan las obligaciones contractuales, según lo dicta la Constitución.
“Aunque nuestra economía ya se encuentra en terreno positivo, actuaciones como estas no solo ponen en riesgo la economía de los puertorriqueños, sino también el buen nombre de Puerto Rico ante los inversionistas y la comunidad internacional”, indicó el legislador.
“García Padilla tiene que responder, es un asunto que no puede dejar pasar de largo. Y esto no es cuestión del que ‘no tiene echa, tiene sospecha’, esto es mucho más serio que eso, porque sus legisladores están metiendo la mano donde no es. Por eso el Pueblo quiere saber cuál es su postura”, subrayó Meléndez.
Con respecto a que Perelló y Rivera Ruiz sean referidos a la Comisión de Ética, dijo que el estatus es prematuro para opinar.
Fortuño también le pide que reaccione
Por su parte, el gobernador de Puerto Rico, Luis Fortuño aseveró que señaló a García Padilla a que exprese postura firme de que la política de creación de empleos no se puede mezclar con la campaña.
“Nuestra legislación de APP ha sido elogiada al punto que el Consejo de Gobiernos Estatales determinó y aprobó una resolución unánime de que el modelo de Puerto Rico es el modelo a seguir por todos los estados, por su transparencia y lo bien que se maneja. Cómo van a venir a amedrentar a grupos que quieren hacer una inversión multimillonaria y a crear empleos”, manifestó en entrevista telefónica con EL VOCERO desde Virginia. “Exhorto nuevamente al Senador a que desautorice a los legisladores de su partido, ya que están amedrentando o queriendo extorsionar a estas empresas multinacionales”, concluyó.
García Padilla, en una conferencia de prensa en el Faro de Rincón, se limitó a repetir su postura diciendo que “en Coamo y en Rincón, también dicen que el que no tiene echas no tiene sospechas”.
“Lo que sí puedo aclarar es que voy a dar estabilidad al gobierno. No voy a estar persiguiendo a la gente que haya contratado con el gobierno legalmente. (…) En mi gobierno no va a haber comités de paredón. No va a haber ningún tipo de persecución contra personas que han hecho negocios con este gobierno”, destacó el candidato Popular a la gobernación durante la presentación de su proyecto ‘Escudo Costero’.
