Pierluisi to Present Statehood Bill Before U.S. Senate Committee

Puerto Rico Resident Commissioner Pedro
Pierluisi will appear at a hearing before a
U.S. Senate committee to discuss his bill to
have Puerto Rico accepted as the 51st state, pursuant to the results of the Nov. 6, 2012 plebiscite
on the island’s political status.
The island’s non-voting delegate to the
U.S. House of Representatives will present
his case on Tuesday, June 11. The purpose of
the hearing is to receive testimony on the aforementioned referendum on the political status of Puerto Rico. It will be webcast live on
the Senate Energy and Resources Committee
website, and an archived video will be available shortly after the hearing is concluded.
Witness testimony will also be available therein.
