Weather Underground Forecast for Tuesday, June 04, 2013. Showery weather continues in the southeastern corner of the nation on Tuesday, while wet and stormy weather rolls through the Plains. In the East, the southern portion of a cold front in the western Atlantic Ocean will become nearly stationary as it reaches across the DeepSouth states during the morning hours. South of the front, expected scattered showers and thunderstorms to continue from parts of the Carolinas to parts of the Central and Eastern Gulf Coasts. Persistent southeasterly flow will continue to usher tropical moisture across the Florida Peninsula, supporting chances of heavy precipitation, primarily in the southern tier of the peninsula. The frontal disturbance over the region is expected to transition into a warm front later in the day, lifting across the Gulf Coast States. Elsewhere in the East, a cooling trend will continue for parts of the Eastern Seaboard as a cooler and drier airmass settles over the region. This airmass will lower temperatures to near/slightly below normal for this time of year. Behind this activity, a system from the Intermountain West will emerge into the Plains, bringing scattered showers and storms to areas from the Northern Plains and parts of the Upper Midwest through the Southern Plains. Areas across the south-central Plains to the Lower Missouri Valley and Ozarks are at slight risk of severe thunderstorm development. While the main concerns with severe storms in this region are damaging wind gusts and hail, tornadoes cannot be ruled out.
