Puerto Rico is one of the countries where there is more inequality in the world. Ranks fifteenth among 198 countries and it is not flattering. Inequality is measured by setting the gap between rich and poor or the distribution of income. In our case, there is less than 10% of people who have more than 90% of all the wealth, while 90% of our citizenry receives 10% of revenue. 's scholars correlate to countries with high levels of inequality with social problems associated with violence and crime. Also, these countries suffer from problems of corruption, poor quality of life and environment and health problems, among other social stressors. It is no coincidence that we have these problems throughout the archipelago of Puerto Rico. listening to discussions of recent weeks regarding the approval of a new budget and public works service, I note with sadness how many sectors are released to the Legislature to lobby to retain and not contribute, or at least bring social responsibility to address the many problems of our unequal Puerto Rico, and I understand why no agreement is reached. I see with regret that inequality has been internalized in our social psyche and expressed in all relationships. We are used to that over 50% of families live below poverty levels and over 60% do not formally work or live under conditions of underemployment. We live in terror of violence, but not enough to bring the wages of the police or do not fight for our teachers have schools, salaries and minimum support to reduce the dropout rate. On the other hand, the pathetic reflection hear the we undergo every day from 5:00 to 23:00. Empty of content analysis, compulsive repetition of the same, while politicking politicking critic there in decisions about public issues that affect everyone. There are proposals for change, not dwell on anything but block, destroy and intercept any attempt to do good. Not open space for deep reflection of our challenges and opportunities and not move, are responsible for what each country working to make plays. This week was held the Week of Solidarity Economy and there emphasized that to change countries in crisis need to change our ways of thinking and doing economically . In addition, the solidarity economy par excellence is that which considers the total welfare of all the inhabitants of the country, as a way to achieve economic growth, full employment and quality of life at all levels. Solidarity countries that have very low rates of inequality, also have low rates of violence, crime, unemployment, health and other indicators. They are places with high social mobility, which all grow together and produce goods to which most have access. Produce and compete, but redistributed, contribute to social development and create jobs that guarantee full and fair social mobility and growth. In Puerto Rico we have documented and published in every way possible, proposals and strategies that could get us out of the swamp in which us all alone we've gotten, in which we put the government in four years, in which we got to our school communities and society in general. We correct proposals to lift the economy, pay debts, enable efficient government and educate our citizens of today and tomorrow. We know that and we are aware that we have to get out of this self-imposed inequality. We are not slaves, but we prefer to behave as such to have someone to blame: demand and desire, as psychoanalysts say. Enough is enough complaints; slight bitter pill is passed: aspire to happiness.

Public hearings on the status of Puerto Rico,-convened by the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources Senate for Tuesday June 11th, Have Been Canceled. The 4th Annual Greater Hartford Puerto Rican Day Parade in the City of Hartford. The streets were filled with imaginative floats, colorful costumes, rhythmic bands, exciting music, and most of all, lots of laughter as people demonstrated an immense cultural pride.
Enormous crowds were able to enjoy this colossal event in a joyful, harmonious day of community pride. We are told that the (CICD) Connecticut Institute for Community Development/Puerto Rican Parade, Inc. - Hartford Chapter is already in the planning stages for the 2014 event.
Que Viva Puerto Rico!!
