Felipe Álvarez Colón cumplirá 21 años por asesinar al compañero de su ex pareja el año pasado.

El juez Harry Massanet Pastrana, del Tribunal de San Juan, le impuso dicha pena por los cargos de asesinato en segundo grado y Ley de Armas por la muerte de Luis Alberto Rivera Maldonado, de 43 años.

Previo a dictar la sentencia, el juez le preguntó al convicto si tenía algo que decir. Tras una pausa, Álvarez Colon dijo: "perdón".

El magistrado le dijo que si quería decir algo a los familiares del occiso, que se virara y les hablara mirándolos.

"(Quiero) pedirles perdón... Él me tiró primero... Les pido perdón, yo también tengo hijos. Perdón, mis disculpas y quiero que me perdonen por lo que pasó", expresó Álvarez Colon, mientras la hermana y la madre de la víctima lloraban, mirando hacia arriba.

"Yo le señalaba hacia arriba, que pida perdón a Dios primero. Su arrepentimiento, si es sincero o no, él lo sabrá", manifestó fuera de sala a Primera Hora la madre de la víctima, Carmen María Maldonado.

Mientras, la hermana menor de Rivera Maldonado, Ivelise, destacó que aun no puede creer lo ocurrido.

"En estos momentos, no me siento en las de perdonarlo porque no me va a devolver a mi hermano. No me parece que fue sincero porque dijo que mi hermano le tiró primero. Por lo menos se hizo justicia, pero esto ha sido difícil, desastroso", dijo Ivelise.

Álvarez Colón figuro como uno de los diez más buscados de la Policía tras asesinar a Rivera Maldonado al encontrarlo en el apartamento de su ex pareja y madre de sus siete hijos.

El convicto le propinó múltiples heridas punzantes en el apartamento del residencial Monte Park, en Río Piedras, el 23 de febrero de 2011.

El fiscal del caso fue Eduardo Rebollo y el abogado, Eduardo Ayala Torres.

Judge Harry Massanet Pastrana, the Court of San Juan, imposed the death penalty on charges of second-degree murder and Arms Act for the death of Luis Alberto Rivera Maldonado, 43.
Prior to sentencing, the judge asked the convict if he had anything to say. After a pause, Colon Alvarez said, "forgiveness".
The judge told him if he meant something to the family of the deceased, which veer and watching them talk.
"(I) apologize ... He threw me first ... I apologize, I also I have children. Sorry, my apologies and I want you to forgive me for what happened," Alvarez said Colon, while the sister and mother the victim cried, looking up.
"I was pointing up, to apologize to God first. His repentance, if he is sincere or not, he will know," he said outside the courtroom the first time the victim's mother, Carmen Maria Maldonado.
Meanwhile, the younger sister of Rivera Maldonado, Ivelise, said that even he can not believe what happened.
"Right now, I'm not in me to forgive because they will return to my brother. I do not think it was sincere because my brother said he shot first. At least justice was served, but this has been difficult, disastrous, "said Ivelise.

The convict gave him multiple puncture wounds in the Monte Park residential apartment in Rio Piedras, February 23, 2011.
